UNICORN

This legendary rock band with twisted pop sounds reunited in 2009 after a 16-year absence. Their first album after reuniting, “Chambre”, charted at #1 on Oricon (Japanese equivalent of Billboard). They followed this up with a tour that sold out five figure capacity venues, as well as well-received appearances at music festivals.

Unicorn is a Japanese rock band that formed in Hirosima in 1986. The five starting members were Okuda Tamio(Vo)、EBI(B)、Teshima Isamu(G)、Kawanishi Koichi(Dr) and Mukai Midori(Key).
A year after forming, they released their first album “Boom”.

In 1988 Abe Yoshiharu joined Unicorn on Keys and the band changed its shape to give them the style that still makes them unique to this day. Mixing up vocals, the members of the band had freedom to write the songs they wanted. This gave Unicorn a different element to other bands and showed fans they were able to produce a range of styles, leaving behind a huge collection of excellent music. Unicorn eventually dissolved in 1993, after the break the members pursued solo careers or joined other bands. A Unicorn tribute album has since been released along with a self selected “best of” album.

In 2009 the band reformed much to the delight of Japanese fans and they released their first songs in 16 years on the album “Chambre” which became #1 on Oricon, the Japanese equivalent of Billboard, album chart. Their reunion tour drew record number of attendances, and they also played at big festivals with huge success.
